1. What is Lumino?
Lumino is an AI creative platform for children and young people ages 5 to 16. Kids use Lumino to create stories, games, art, and tools by having conversations with an AI guide called Lumi. Lumino is operated from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
2. Who can use Lumino?
Children under 13 need a parent or guardian to create an account on their behalf. The parent manages the child's account through the parent dashboard.
Young people aged 13–16 can sign up directly. We still recommend that a parent is aware of their use.
Parents and guardians can create an account to manage one or more child profiles. Parents are responsible for supervising their children's use of the platform.
By creating an account or allowing your child to use Lumino, you agree to these terms.
3. Accounts and responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your account details secure. For parent accounts, this includes the credentials used to manage child profiles.
Children use usernames only — we never ask children for their real names. Parents provide an email address for account management.
You must not share your account with anyone outside your family, or create accounts on behalf of someone else without their permission.
4. What kids create belongs to them
Stories, games, art, tools, and anything else a child creates on Lumino belongs to them (or their parent/guardian if under 13). Lumino does not claim ownership of user-created content.
By using the platform, you grant Lumino a limited licence to host, display, and share your creations as needed to operate the service — for example, making a project viewable via a share link.
5. How Lumi works (AI disclaimer)
Lumi is an AI assistant, not a person. It is powered by large language models and designed to guide children through creative projects. Lumi does not provide advice on health, safety, personal matters, or anything outside creative making.
While we have safety filters and content guidelines in place, AI-generated content may occasionally be unexpected or imperfect. Parents are encouraged to review younger children's interactions.
Lumi's responses should not be treated as factual statements. It is a creative tool, not an authority.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Lumino to:
- Create or share harmful, hateful, violent, or sexually explicit content
- Harass, bully, or impersonate others
- Attempt to bypass safety filters or content moderation
- Use the platform for any commercial purpose without our permission
- Access or attempt to access another user's account
- Use automated tools to scrape or interact with the platform
Lumino includes content safety filters designed to keep interactions age-appropriate. We may review flagged content to improve safety.
7. Payment and subscriptions
Lumino offers a free tier and a paid subscription called Lumino+ (£9.99/month or £7.99/month billed annually, per child).
Payments are processed by Stripe. Lumino does not store your payment card details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will not be charged again, and your child retains access until then.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscriptions will be honoured at their current price until the end of the billing cycle.
8. Limitation of liability
Lumino is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep the platform safe, reliable, and useful, but we cannot guarantee that it will be available at all times or that AI-generated content will always be appropriate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lumino's liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months prior to any claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us or through your account settings. We will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, pose a safety risk, or are involved in fraudulent activity. We will notify you by email if we do so, unless doing so would compromise safety.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the platform at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Lumino after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
